Two Irish students remain in critical condition following Berkeley balcony collapse

Two Irish students remain in critical condition at The Highlands Hospital in Oakland near Berkeley, California today.

In the last 12 hours the parents of Aoife Beary and Hannah Waters have arrived to be at the bedside of the two women. The students were celebrating Aoife’s 21st birthday when tragedy struck on Monday night.

ECB would not allow banks to collapse, inquiry hears

The people involved in deciding the bank guarantee were told that the European Central Bank would not allow any Irish banks to collapse.

That's according to the top civil servant at the Department of Finance, on the night the guarantee was signed off.

Almost 30,000 under sixes have now been registered for free GP care.

The HSE says there has been a steady stream of applications since the process opened on Monday.

From July 1, almost 300,000 children will be eligible to visit their doctor free of charge.

Irish political parties disclose donations

That's a fall of 3 per cent compared to the previous year, even though parties would have increased their spending for the local and European elections.

Fine Gael account for the lion's share of donations - receiving over €100,000 - with the Socialist Party next, at just over €30,000. The Anti-Austerity Alliance followed with €13,400.

RTÉ given permission to publish almost all of report on Denis O'Brien's arrangements with IBRC

The High Court has given RTÉ permission to publish all but two paragraphs of a report on Denis O'Brien's banking arrangements with IBRC.

The bank pushed for the redactions over concerns the information derived from privileged interactions between IBRC and its lawyers.
