The chair of the investigation into IBRC's handling of Anglo Irish Bank loans says that legal issues are preventing him from doing his work.

The Government has confirmed it has received a letter from Judge Brian Cregan in which he said the Commission of Investigation is unable to investigate "any of the relevant write-off transactions" at the centre of the inquiry.

Man arrested after woman abducted from home

A man has been arrested after a mother of four was abducted from her home in Co Longford yesterday.

The incident happened shortly after 4pm when the woman in her 20s was taken from her home in Edgeworsthtown.

A Remembrance Day service has taken place at St Patrick's Cathedral in Dublin.

The ceremony was attended by the President Michael D Higgins, Tanaiste Joan Burton, Lord Mayor of Dublin Críona Ní Dhálaigh and GAA President Aogan O'Fearghail.

Man in serious condition after Cabra shooting

A man in his 50s is in a serious condition after being shot in Cabra in North Dublin.

The man was shot twice on Killala Road at approximately 7.30pm.
