Greek banks to remain closed tomorrow

Greek banks will remain closed tomorrow as the country's government imposes capital controls.

However, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras Tsipras called for calm and said bank deposits were safe during a televised address.

Irish man dies in Qatar accident

An Irish man has been killed in an accident in Qatar.

The Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that they are providing consular assistance to the family of the man, who is believed to be from Newry.

The man's girlfriend, who is believed to be from England was also killed in the accident. Two others were injured and are being treated in a Qatar hospital.

LÉ Eithne has rescued almost 600 migrants off Libyan coast

The LÉ Eithne has rescued almost 600 migrants off the Libyan coast.

Rescue operations began at 4am Irish time, when 101 migrants were taken from a rubber craft around 50 nautical miles north west of Tripoli.

It quickly launched into five more rescues, which were all completed within nine hours.

The parents of British pupils involved in a school bus crash in Belgium which killed the driver and left a 13-year-old boy in intensive care, have started arriving in the country. 

Two drivers from the North were on board, along with 34 children aged between 11 and 13 and a further six adults, when the vehicle hit a bridge and overturned on the E40 motorway in West Flanders.

Riot police break up Istanbul pride parade

Riot police have used teargas and water cannon to break up a gay pride parade in Istanbul.

It's understood officers began the clamp down before the march began in the Turkish city.
