Saverio Bellante found not guilty of murder by reason of insanity

Saverio Bellante has been found not guilty of murder by reason of insanity.

Mr Bellante (36) had admitted killing Tom O'Gorman in Castleknock in Dublin last year, but denied his murder.

Former Anglo officials sentenced to between three years and 18 months in jail

Three former Anglo Irish Bank officials have been jailed for between 18 months and three years for conspiring to conceal or alter bank accounts being sought by Revenue.

Former chief Operations Officer Tiarnan O'Mahoney, former company secretary Bernard Daly and former assistant manager Aoife Maguire were found guilty by a jury on Thursday on all charges after nearly seven hours deliberations and a two month trial.

Four killed in private jet crash in Britain

A pilot and three passengers have died after a small private jet crashed into a car auction as it was trying to land.

A blaze broke out at the auction site based at Blackbushe Airport at 3.09pm when the Phenom 300 plane ploughed into a full car park shortly after take-off.

Lawyers for former Anglo Irish Bank chairman Sean FitzPatrick want to adjourn his upcoming trial because of recent publicity surrounding the trial of three ex-Anglo officials.

For conspiring to conceal or alter bank accounts being sought by Revenue, Tiarnan O'Mahoney was sentenced to 3 years, Bernard Daly to two years, and Aoife Maguire to 18 months, all without suspension.
