Three former Anglo executives guilty of conspiring to hide accounts

Three former Anglo officials are spending a night in custody ahead of their sentencing tomorrow at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Former chief Operations Officer Tiarnan O'Mahoney, former company secretary Bernard Daly and former assistant manager Aoife Maguire were found guilty on all charges by the jury after nearly seven hours deliberations and a two month day trial.

Two forensic psychiatrists have told the murder trial of Saverio Bellante that he fulfils the criteria of not guilty by reason of insanity.

Mr Bellante (36) has admitted killing his landlord on the night of January 11th last year.

Six people have been wounded in a stabbing incident at a gay pride parade in Jerusalem, Israel.

BBC reports the suspect Yishai Schlissel, an ultra-Orthodox Jew, was released from prison just three weeks ago after serving a sentence for stabbing four people at the same parade in 2005.

The Justice Minister has welcomed the Court of Appeal dismissing two legal challenges to the marriage equality referendum.

 

The three judge court rejected the separate claims of County Clare electrician Gerry Walshe and Kilkenny gardener Maurice J Lyons who claimed the views of those opposed to same sex marriage were not taken into account by Government in the campaign.

The former Chief Executive of the IBRC has alleged a senior Department of Finance official insisted an executive should accept a lower bid in the sale of an asset.

Mike Aynsley has told the Banking Inquiry there should be a record of this in emails at the now liquidated bank.
