We're not sure everyone was taking this one seriously

The people of New Zealand have been tasked with designing a new flag for their nation – with the best efforts to go before the electorate in a referendum next year.

While there’s no guarantee the flag will change – keeping the existing one remains an option – but there’s been plenty of interest from would be flag designers. And some of the entries thus far have been, interesting, to say the least.

Journalist and broadcaster Ursula Halligan has talked of her struggle to come to terms with her sexuality.

TV3's political editor wrote a piece in the Irish Times, detailing how she felt isolated and alone after falling in love with a girl at the age of 17.

"There have been times when I have even thought about death, of escaping from this world, of sleeping untouched by no-one forever. I have been so depressed, so sad and so confused. There seems to be no one I can turn to, not even God", she wrote.

The band began their iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE tour last night

U2 began their first tour in four years with a gig held in Vancouver last night.

The 70-date Innocence and Experience show is almost sold out.

U2's last tour was the highest grossing by any band in history. This time they are playing small indoor arenas rather than stadiums.

Gardaí in Dublin are seeking the help of the public in tracing the whereabouts of a missing teenager.

Stephen Sweetman (18) was last seen in Clonard, Balbriggan at around 4pm on Wednesday.

He is described as being 6'2" tall, of athletic build, with short brown hair and brown eyes.
