Two men have died after light aircraft crash near Mount Leinster

Two men, one in his 60s and the other in his 50s, have died after their light aircraft crashed near Mount Leinster this afternoon.

A hillwalker saw the plane come down at Blackstairs Commons near Enniscorthy.

The bodies will not be removed until the morning as the mountainous area where they have been located is quite remote.

Nobel Prize winner John Nash and his wife Alicia have died in a taxi crash in New Jersey.

The Princeton University mathematician - whose life was portrayed in the film A Beautiful Mind - was 86. His wife was 82.

They were thrown from a taxi on the New Jersey Turnpike when the driver lost control and hit a rail at 4.30pm local time on Saturday, New Jersey State Police said.

Archbishop of Dublin says gay rights could have been legally recognised without redefining marriage

The Archbishop of Dublin says the rights of gay and lesbian people could have been legally recognised without changing the definition of marriage.

Diarmuid Martin says the council of bishops will meet tomorrow to discuss the outcome of the referendum.

He says there is currently no engagement between modern Irish culture and the Catholic Church here.
