Department of Finance blocks Quinn-Anglo deal

The Department of Finance has blocked a proposed peace deal between the Quinn family and the former Anglo Irish Bank, in the wake of the Siteserv controversy.
The Sunday Business Post reports that the Department rejected the deal.
Negotiations between the bank and the Quinn family to settle a looming €4.5bn court battle have now ended.

"I think the critical difference is the lack of constitutional protection - that no matter how many rights you have in legislation, the Constitution doesn't recognise civil partnership in the way that it recognises marriage," Dr Ryan explained.
Tributes paid to motorcyclist who died following crash in Co Clare
Tributes are being paid to Aidan Lynam who lost his life in a motorcycle crash in Clare today.
Mr Lynam, who was in his early 40s, was airlifted to University Hospital Limerick after sustaining critical injuries when his motorcycle collided with a car on the Kilrush Road (N67) near Kilkee earlier today.
However he was later pronounced dead.
