Thai police have confirmed DNA found on murdered British backpacker Hannah Witheridge is a match for two Asian men.

The 23-year-old - and 24-year-old David Miller - were found dead on a beach on the island of Koh Tao on Monday. Witheridge had suffered head wounds and Miller died of head injuries and drowning.

Their bodies were found in a rocky area of Sairee beach on Monday.

A garden hoe with Ms Witheridge's blood on it was discovered nearby, and investigators are searching for a blunt metal object used on Mr Miller.

Authorities there say the investigation is proving "difficult" - and despite questioning a number of men, there are still no formal suspects.

DNA on a cigarette butt has matched DNA found on Witheridge. Thai police say the cigarette was smoked by more than one person.

Two Britsh brothers had been questioned in the case but have now been told they are free to leave Thailand.

A group of Burmese migrant workers who were questioned have also been eliminated from police inquiries.
