Gardaí are investigating after a teenager was stabbed in Galway city centre.

It happened at around 3:30am on Wednesday morning on Francis Street, not far from Eyre Square.

A man in his late teens was taken to University Hospital Galway with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The street was earlier closed for a technical examination.

No arrests have been made and Gardaí have said investigations are ongoing.
