A 19-year-old man was killed and four others were injured in a two-car collision in Ballykisteen, Co Tipperary, last night.

Gardaí said the crash occurred on the N24 shortly before 9pm last night, Saturday July 15th. 

The 19-year-old died in the collision. His body has been taken to University Hospital Waterford for a postmortem.

The driver and the other passenger of the car, both men, were taken to University Hospital Limerick, where the other passenger remains in critical condition. 

The two occupants of the second car were also taken to University Hospital Limerick for serious but not life-threatening injuries. 

The N24 in Ballykisteen remains closed this morning for an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place. 

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the crash to contact them.
