Taxi fares could be going up. The National Transport Authority (NTA) is launching a new consultation on proposed maximum taxi fares.

The maximum fares order sets out the highest amount a taxi driver can charge on a given journey.

A review of national taxi fares has been undertaken every two years to date - but maximum fares have been unchanged since 2008.

In addition, views are being sought on proposed changes to the taxi regulations.

The closing date for submissions to the consultation is Tuesday December 9th.

Written submissions can be made by email to MaxFares@nationaltransport.ie or SPSVRegs@nationaltransport.ie, and by post to Maximum Fares Order 2014, or SPSV Regulations National Transport Authority, Dún Scéine, Harcourt Lane, Dublin 2.
