TODAY

Today will start mainly dry with bright and sunny spells.

Showers will develop in the west and southwest this morning, with thunderstorms expected through the western half of the country in late morning and early afternoon, moving northwards through Connacht and Ulster.

To the east, the afternoon will be mostly dry with sunny spells. There'll be showers in the evening, some heavy with a risk of thunder.

Highest temperatures of 18 to 22 degrees.

TONIGHT

The showers will mostly clear by tonight, returning to western coasts by morning.

Lowest temperatures of 13 or 14 degrees, with light southerly winds over land.
