Temperatures could get up as a high as 25C this weekend.

Met Eireann is forecasting warm dry spells with good sunshine right around the country.

The forecaster said the good weather could last right through next week and into next weekend.

Forecaster Evelyn Cusack said people should get out and enjoy it this weekend.

“We have had a really cool, wet July,” she said. “Wetter than average; colder than average, windier than average.”

“So, temperatures this weekend will be into the 20s. Now the average maximum temperature in Ireland in the summer is about 20C which is modest enough so this weekend and into next week it will be sort of 20C – 25C.”

Cathal Nolan from the Ireland Weather Channel said things are looking good for the next week.

“Over the course of the weekend, we can expect to see very settled conditions becoming widespread across the country,” he said.

“With that, we are talking about clear blue skies and, of course, temperatures rising back up into the low 20s so it will actually start to feel like summer once again.

“At the moment, the charts do indicate that we will see the pretty settled outlook continuing for much of the working week next week.”

Met Eireann said the warmest weather will be away from the east coast sea breeze. Winds will be mostly light except along Irish Sea coast where they will blow moderate north-easterly.

The forecaster is also warning there may be some thunder on Monday and Tuesday as a result of the hot weather.
