Weeks of weather-related disappointment and a summer of underwhelming day after day looks set to break tomorrow with temperatures of up to 24 degrees forecast. However it looks set to be a brief break.

The highest temperatures will hit inland, with the western coastal areas likely to reach 17 degrees.

Met Eireann says tomorrow “will be dry in most areas, with sunny intervals, but it will be cloudier along some Atlantic coasts, with a little patchy drizzle or light rain along the northwest coast later.

“Warm, with maximum temperatures of 20 to 24 Celsius inland, but 16 or 17 degrees along Atlantic coasts. Mostly light variable winds.”

Tomorrow night will be dry with broken cloud in most of the country, with a touch of rain or drizzle on the hills in the northwest on Friday.

Saturday looks like a grim return to form for the summer of 2015 however, with scattered showers in most areas and light to moderate winds. And by Sunday afternoon rain will be spread countrywide.
