Students at a school in California played the ultimate prank on their head teacher - by hiring a Mariachi band to follow him.

The musicians were waiting for John Becchio, principal of Santa Barbara High School, when he arrived at his office at 7.15am and then proceeded to follow him around the corridors and into classrooms throughout the day.

The mariachi prank came the day after the principal had endured another hoax from pupils who shrink-wrapped all of his belongings in his office.
