Met Éireann has issued two national weather warning for the coming days.

There is an status orange wind warning in place for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo.

The forecaster says southerly wind will reach gale force in exposed areas.

Westerly winds will strengthen further this evening and overnight, with gales or severe gales.

It also says stormy conditions are likely to develop overnight and Wednesday in coastal areas - with gusts 100 to 130km/hr

Wintry showers are also likely tonight and tomorrow, with snow on higher ground.

A separate, yellow wind warning is also in place for Munster, Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan and Roscommon.

It is warning of southerly winds reaching gale force in exposed areas - especially near exposed coasts.

Westerly winds will strengthen further tonight and tomorrow, with winds gusting 70 to 110km/hr - having strongest values in exposed western parts.
