Met Éireann has issued a Satus Yellow rain warning for Cork, Kerry and Limerick this evening.
The forecaster said there would be heavy rain in the counties from 11pm on Thursday until 9am on Friday morning.
Flooding
The warning comes with Cork still recovering from heavy flooding this week and Pearse Doherty of Sinn Féin has called on the Government to be swift in its support for local communities.
“We’ve had experience of this in… Donegal where we’ve had floods,” he told the Dáil.
“Many of the community facilities took years to actually be replaced… Now it is time for the Government to step up and support… our hospitals, our creches, our businesses and our households.”

One woman in Cork said it was the second time her home had flooded in 10 years.
“The OPW have a scheme in operation that has gone through planning and they’re telling us now they won’t do it until 2030,” she said.
“It’s not good enough – I can’t do this again.
“The OPW have to come out of their warm offices and come down and see what's going on the ground instead of just sitting there and not taking any notice of the people of all the villages.”
