A batch of bottled water sold in Spar and Londis shops is being recalled over fears it contains arsenic above normal levels.

The FSAI said BWG Foods is withdrawing the products as a precautionary measure.

It applies to Spar Water Still Sport 750ml bottles and Londis Water Still 1-litre bottles, with batch code 177.

It comes after arsenic "was detected at levels above the prescribed legal limit".

Retailers are being asked to remove the affected products from sale.

Consumers, meanwhile, are advised not to drink the water - but the FSAI noted that consumption of the product does not cause any immediate or ongoing risk.
