A 65-year-old man has been arrested in Barcelona in Spain on suspicion of trying to smuggle cocaine under his wig.

He was stopped by police at the airport when he was seen acting suspiciously after flying from Bogota in Colombia.

Spanish police say they found half a kilo of cocaine stuck to his head under his hairpiece.

It's believed the seized drugs could be worth around €30,000.

A spokesperson for the Spanish police force said officers noticed how nervous the man was while passing through security.

The spokesperson told La Vanguardia newspaper: "His toupee was very curious.

"However, the agents there are experts and they pay close attention to [people's] attitude."

The man is now being detained by authorities and has been charged with public health offences.
