Hundreds of families have not received thier Domiciliary Care allowance for children with special needs from the Department of Social Protection today. The Department has confirmed that there is an issue with the payment today.
A spokesperson says they are still checking it out but the payment will be made first thing tomorrow.
The issue revolves around what the Department is calling a "once off processing issue". It means that social welfare payments which are made by Electronic Funds Transfer to a bank account will not go across today.
The Department of Social Protection says it very much regrets the delay and apologises for any inconvenience caused.
This means that approximately 32,700 customers will not receive their payment until tomorrow.
The payments affected are:
- Illness Benefit
- Domiciliary Care Allowance
- Jobseekers Benefit and Jobseeker’s Allowance
- Occupational Injuries Benefit
- Partial Capacity Benefit
- Farm Assist
- Back to Work Allowance
- Supplementary Welfare Allowance
- Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance
- Family Income Supplement
- Back to Education Allowance
- One Parent Family Payment
- JobBridge
- Pre-Retirement Allowance
- Maternity Benefit
The Department says all payments will be in customer bank accounts by 8.00am tomorrow morning or possibly even earlier.
The Department says it is satisfied that no other payments are affected.
Sean Reilly is from the Department of Social Protection and says this is a once-off issue.
