No one else was injured in the crash.

Gardaí remain at the scene this morning and the eastbound section of the M6 between Junctions 3 and 4 is expected to remain closed throughout the morning.

A technical examination of the scene is being carried out and local diversions are now in place.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the crash to come forward.

They are particularly interested in talking to road users who were in the area between 3:45pm and 4pm and may have camera footage.
