Six Britons, an Austrian and three Frenchmen are to be tried today over football violence during Euro 2016 in France.

A 16-year-old Briton is among those arrested and charged with throwing bottles during violence in Marseille, French prosecutors confirm.

It comes following the arrest of 116 people related to the disorder since the start of the Championships; the worst violence at an international tournament since the 1998 World Cup in France.

Three people have been expelled and five others barred from entering the country because "of the risk they pose to public order", Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said.

Police used water cannon, tear gas, dogs and batons to control England fans at the old port in Marseille, and outside the stadium just before England kicked off their campaign.

Some 150 suspected Russian football hooligans escaped arrest, according to prosecutors.

During one street battle, armed police officers carried out CPR in the street on one man who had suffered severe facial injuries.

An England football supporter remains in a "critical but stable" condition in hospital.
