Seven workers at a food processing plant in the midlands have tested positive for COVID-19.
Carrolls Cuisine in Tullamore, County Offaly said it tested all of its staff after one of its workers tested positive last week.
Six other workers then tested positive. All seven are now self-isolating.
The company said it will continue testing all staff in the coming days, and will “remain vigilant on a constant basis.”
“We are supporting our affected employees and are working closely and co-operatively with the HSE who are satisfied with the actions we are taking,” it said.
The company said production was on a ‘scheduled shut-down’ when the cases were confirmed and a deep clean of the working area has already taken place.
It said it has “implemented stringent health and safety measures to protect our employees and to help prevent the spread of the virus” since the outbreak began.
Some 330 people are employed at the Tullamore plant.
