The White House has refused to rule out the prospect of another visit to Ireland by the US president Barack Obama.
It is reported that Mr Obama may be set for a visit to Ireland next year, in the last year of his presidency.
St Patrick's Day has been earmarked for a potential visit, as the Taoiseach may not be able to travel to Washington due to a possible election.
