A young tiger is believed to be on the loose near Disneyland Paris.

Authorities in the town of Montevrain say it was spotted about 5.5 miles from the theme park.

A statement posted on the Montevrain Facebook page said the tiger was spotted in woods behind a tennis court and soccer field.

A security perimeter has been roped off, while people living nearby are being warned to stay indoors.

Disneyland says it does not keep tigers.

A helicopter, police and firefighters armed with tranquiliser guns were said to be on the scene.
