At around 10:30pm on Saturday, the Coast Guard and lifeboat was alerted after the boat got into difficulty and sank south of Hook Head.

A second fisherman, who died after being rescued over the weekend, has been named as 65-year-old Joe Sinnott.

He was recovered from the water by the Rescue 117 helicopter and flown to Waterford Airport on Sunday.

He was then transferred by ambulance to University Hospital Waterford for treatment.

However he later died in hospital.
