A Seanad by-election is to be held to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Senator Jimmy Harte.

Senator Harte was elected from the Oireachtas Sub-Panel of the Industrial and Commercial Panel in April 2011.

The closing date for nominations for the by-election will be 15th October at 12 noon.

Ballot papers will be issued on 30 October and the poll will close at 11 a.m. on 13th November.
