A junior school in East London has had to cancel its end of term play, Lights! Camera! Action! after the realisation that one of the characters named Jim Fixit was based on the late Jimmy Savile, the disgraced former children's broadcaster. The revelation came after the students took the script home to read through it.

The script for the play featured a letter from a child asking Jim to 'fix it', referring to a mirror in the toilets, as was the trademark of Savile's persona. The main character's response is "I've seen the Year 5 boys - oooooh, not a pretty sight."

The school have requested that the scripts be recalled as quickly as possible.
