A Grant Thornton review has found the pay of RTÉ's top 10 presenters was correctly stated between 2010 and 2022, with the exception of Ryan Tubridy's pay since 2017.

The interim report was sent to the Oireachtas Public Accounts Committee, which will hear from new RTÉ Director-General Kevin Bakhurst this morning.

On just his fourth day in the job Mr Bakhurst will find himself fielding questions from TDs and Senators about a crisis which has rocked the State broadcaster.

He will tell the Public Accounts Committee a number of things are beyond dispute - including that RTÉ should not be facilitating commercial arrangements for its contractors.

He will also say fees for top presenters are too high and there needs to be greater transparency, honesty and integrity at RTÉ.

Chair of the RTÉ Board, Siún Ní Raghallaigh, will tell the Committee Mr Bakhurst has been steadying the ship since taking over on Monday.

She will also present an interim Grant Thornton report, which shows the pay of RTÉ's top 10 presenters since 2010 has been correctly stated - with the exception of the years 2017 to 2022 for Ryan Tubridy, which the investigation is still looking at.

Mr Bakhurst will be joined at the meeting by Chief Financial Officer Richard Collins and new Director of Strategy Conor Mullen.

Crucially he will tell politicians it is a source of frustration there are still gaps in the evidence and personal testimonies missing from this story, which could irrefutably establish the chain of events.
