Richard Boyd-Barrett is a TD for the People Before Profit Alliance in Dun Laoghaire in Dublin.

Richard was adopted by Valerie and David Boyd-Barrett at an early age, and grew up with them in Glenageary along with his adoptive brother, Dougie.

David worked as an accountant, and Valerie gave up her job as a hairdresser to look after the two young boys.

Richard became interested in politics from an early age, influenced by the conversations he had with his father, and the music he listened to in his teenage years.

More recently, Richard met his biological parents – the actress, Sinead Cusack, and the theatre director, Vincent Dowling, who died in May this year.

Richard has a son, Noah who turns 10 next week, and a step-son, Fionn, who’s 14.
