Ten million cigarettes, worth an estimated €5.2m, have been seized in Slane, Co Meath.

The "American Legend" cigarettes were found in a container, marked 'timber furniture', which had originated in Vietnam and travelled via Singapore and Rotterdam, before arriving into Dublin Port last Thursday.

The cigarettes represent a potential loss to the Exchequer of around €4.2m.
