The UK Foreign Office says a man shot dead along with his actress wife in Venezuela was a British national.
Thomas Henry Berry was killed along with his wife, Monica Spear Mootz, in a gun attack in which their five-year-old daughter was also injured.
Ms Spear is a well known soap opera actress in Venezuela and has previously represented the country at Miss Universe.
Earlier reports in Venezuelan media had suggested the man may have been an Irish citizen.

Broadcaster Noticias 24 is reporting that Monica Spear and her partner were killed Monday night during an alleged robbery at the Valencia-Puerto Cabello motorway.
Spear won the title of Miss Venezuela back in 2004.
She represented Venezuela at Miss Universe 2005 in Bangkok, and came fourth runner-up.
