Gardaí are renewing their appeal for information on the murder of Antoinette Smith 36 years ago.

Ms Smith’s remains were discovered on Glendoo Mountain near Enniskerry in Co Wicklow nine months after she went missing.

In April 1988, 27-year-old Ms Smith went to a David Bowie concert in Slane before returning to a nightclub in Dublin, La Mirage.

Ms Smith and her friend met two men they knew at La Mirage. After her friend left the nightclub, Ms Smith spoke to the two men for some time.

She was last seen by the two men at a taxi rank on O’Connell Street as she walked towards O’Connell Street Bridge.

The mother-of-two was later reported missing by her husband. Ms Smith's daughters were seven and four at the time.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

“Gardaí are urging individuals, who 36 years on may want to come forward, to do so, especially if relationships/ associations may have changed over the years,” they said.

Anyone who comes forward with information will be treated “in a sensitive manner”, according to Gardaí.

Anyone with information can contact Gardaí in Bray at 01 666 5300, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
