Police in Wales have confirmed that human remains found on the banks of the River Dee last Friday are those of Catherine Gowing.

It follows confirmation that remains found 2 days previously in the Sealand area belonged to the missing vet who was originally from Co. Offaly.

She disappeared on Friday October 12th and a 46-year-old man has been charged with her murder.

Senior Investigating Officer in the case DCI Mark Pierce says the results of the latest tests have been passed to her family who they say are being supported by specialist officers and are being kept fully updated.

He added “The search for further remains and any evidence to assist this investigation continues”.

Renewed appeal

Police have also repeated their appeal for any information regarding any sightings of her Irish-registered Renault Clio 00-D-99970 and the black Volvo S40 of suspect Clive Sharp registration number AG58-JHE.

Catherine has not been seen since approximately 8.40pm on Friday October 12th when she was sighted on CCTV leaving Asda Supermarket in Queensferry.

Since that time 46-year-old Mr. Sharp has been charged with her murder.
