Irish people have been galvanised by pictures of toddler Aylan Kurdi's corpse lying on a beach in Bodrum, Turkey.

All over Facebook groups are forming, and individuals are posting details about collection and drop off points for donations.

If you want to take action this weekend, below is a list of just some of the places you can go to donate.

These groups will take donations of materials, but remember that in the end the thing that is most easily transportable is money.

However, you must be confident that the group you are donating to is legitimate as most of these groups are newly established and do not have a track record of managing their finances.

See below for a list of established Irish charities you can contribute to.

Pledge a room

Another option is to offer accommodation to refugees - the position here is a little unclear because the government has yet to confirm how many additional families it will accept into the State.

Still they have welcomed any offers of help.

Two of the sites accepting offers of accommodation are Uplift and Refugee BnB, whose website is launching Monday. Refugee BnB is looking for people who are willing to commit to accommodating a refugee family in their own home for a year, from January of 2016.

Both sites say pledges (which are not definite commitments at this stage) will give the government a firm indication of the support that exists for more refugees to come to Ireland.

Those sites are modeling themselves on German site Refugees Welcome, an initiative set up by a couple in their twenties.

Similar sites are being set up all over Europe.

The Airbnb style website connects hosts with refugees and crowdsources for the refugee's portion of the rent.

Donate materials

The Ireland Calais Refugee solidarity group is one of the biggest groups collecting donations of material, and money.

The group is run by Tracey Ryan, a Mother from Cork.

A convoy will leave for Cherbourg on September 29

Check their Facebook page for information on drop-off points.

Other splinter groups have formed all over the country.

This collection in Belfast is one of the largest in the North, but elsewhere in the region or border counties you can also check out Europe Refugee Crisis Appeal NI and border counties.

Two groups are operating out of Kerry - one part of the Calais family, one called Help for Humans - Kerry Ireland

South Tipperary and North Tipperary organisers have formed groups.

And in the East there is a sizeable Dublin group, as well as a South Dublin / Wicklow Calais Refugee Solidarity body.

The Dublin group, known as Dublin Calais Refugee Solidarity has issued the following information about pick up points and most-wanted items.

Collection Points In and Around Dublin include a city centre point at Jigsaw, 10 Belvedere Court.

That drop-off point will be manned every Saturday 10am - 4pm and every Tuesday 6pm - 8.30pm for the month.

Elsewhere in the city, points will be set up in D5, D9, Malahide, Swords, Ringsend, Dun Laoghaire, Lucan, Fonhill, Clondalkin, Tallaght.

Further out, find points in Drogheda, Navan, Balbriggan, Ashbourne and Clonee.

All contact information available on Facebook.

Further south then, Waterford People to People Refugee Emergency Group is on Facebook
