You have just over three weeks to register for the referendums on same-sex marriage and the age of presidential candidates.

The Referendum Commission has kicked off its information campaign - encouraging people to get registered in good time.

The referendums take place on May 22nd, while people have until May 5th to register to vote.

An independent guide is being sent to every home, including replicas of the ballot papers to help voters avoid confusion.

Judge Kevin Cross is the Chair of the Referendum Commission, and he spoke to Newstalk Lunchtime this afternoon.

He explained what exactly people will be voting for, emphasising he believes "what we have said in our guide is a neutral and unbiased way of looking at the proposals, both on the presidential age and on the marriage referendum. I believe that will stand up to scrutiny".
