Britain's Prince Harry has filed claims in the UK High Court over allegations his voicemail messages were illegally intercepted.

News Group Newspapers, which owns The Sun and owned the now defunct News of The World, has confirmed it is one of the companies that has received a claim.

MGN Limited, which owns the Daily Mirror, Sunday Mirror and The Sunday People, has been revealed in court documents as the other company that has received a claim.

Buckingham Palace confirmed the news this evening.

The claim comes just days after the he spoke about the "powerful forces" that led to his mother's death as he and Meghan announced they were suing the Mail on Sunday newspaper.

He said in a strongly worded statement that his wife had become a victim of British tabloid newspapers and denounced what he called their "ruthless campaign".

He said he feared history repeating itself as he watched his "wife falling victim to the same powerful forces" which plagued his mother Diana's life.

The claim against the Mail On Sunday was announced while the pair were on a tour in Africa.
