The priest at the funeral of Limerick man John O'Donoghue is appealing for more gardaí for rural areas.
Fr Tony Ryan says the government must not to let the death of the 62-year-old from Toomaline, Doon, be in vain.
John O'Donoghue was found dead in the driveway of his home after it had been burgled.
A post mortem carried out on Mr O'Donoghue's body confirmed he died of a heart attack.
Speaking at the funeral mass in St Patrick's Church in Doon - which was attended by Live 95 - Fr Ryan appealed for people to look out for each other:
Two men were brought before a special sitting of Limerick District Court on Saturday in connection with the burglary.
They were charged with two other counts of burglary and one count of causing criminal damage all on the same day.
