A post mortem will be carried out today on the body of an elderly woman who died following a house fire in county Cavan last night.

Emergency services were called to the scene at Tunnyduff in Bailieborough shortly after 7pm.

The body of the woman was taken to the morgue at Cavan General Hospital.

The area has been preserved while gardai carry out a technical examination of the scene.
