Sleet and snow can be expected in parts of the country as the weather gets colder this weekend.
The west and north-west of the country are expected to see most of the wintry showers, with temperatures dropping as low as -3 degrees.
Met Éireann says we can also expect some strong winds over the coming days.
Speaking today, meteorologist Joanna Donnelly didn't rule out a weather warning being issued.
She explained: "Our warning level cold weather jumps in at -4 degrees, I think, so it has to be pretty cold to get a cold weather warning.
"We'll see maybe some possibility of a warning level for lying snow, but we'll be keeping a close eye on whether that happens or not - it would be in the west or the north-west."
Met Éireann is forecasting that widespread showers will turn increasingly wintry tonight, with snow possible over higher ground.
It's expected to be cold and wintry over the weekend before becoming more settled early next week - but very cold nights are being forecast for Monday and Tuesday.
Widespread frost is also forecast for Saturday night as temperatures could drop below zero.
