Casinos will soon have to pay towards treatment for people who suffer from gambling addiction, it was reported yesterday.

The Social Gambling Fund is just one of numberous directives set to be imposed under justice minister Alan Shatter's forthcoming Gambling Control Bill. 

Gambling addictions have reached "epidemic proportions", Gamblers Anonymous Ireland said in February, with more than 2,000 people seeking treatment every week.
