Following on from recent comments made by various government ministers, it looks like the Budget next month will be far less austere than in previous years.
The Minister for Expenditure and Reform Brendan Howlin said recently that the envisaged tax increases and expenditure reductions of €2.1 billion are now “not necessary”.
While the newly-appointed Minister for Health Leo Varadkar yesterday was quoted as saying that workers could have an extra fiver or tenner in pay packets after Budget 2015.
