The fight erupted between rival drag queens for the pageant crown.
A runner-up attacked the newly-crowned Miss Gay 2013 after judges had reportedly announced the wrong winner at the contest in the northern city of Tarapoto.

The runner-up disagreed with the decision and accused the judges of favouritism.
According to local media it took security some time to separate the sparring drag queens.
Despite the incident and confusion, the winner was able to retain her crown.
