A person has died after a crash in County Galway earlier this morning.

The single-vehicle collision happened shortly after 5am on the N59 Moycullen Road.

The occupant of the vehicle was pronounced dead on the scene, before being moved to the mortuary at University Hospital Galway.

Gardaí attended the scene to complete a technical examination.

The road was reopened later in the day.

Gardaí are looking for anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact them.

They are particularly looking for road users who were in the area at the time and may have dash cam footage.
