Anton Savage has been the host of his magazine current affairs show on Saturday mornings on Newstalk since October 2021, with 122,000 listeners tuning in every week.

The show will continue to air on Saturdays from 9am to 11am.

Mr Savage said it has been a “pleasure” to work with Newstalk for the past two years.

“Despite my best efforts, The Anton Savage Show has been doing well on Saturdays, so hopefully we can persuade some of our Saturday listeners to come join us on Sundays,” he said.

“Thankfully Newstalk has some of the best production people in the business.”

Newstalk Managing Editor Patricia Monahan said The Anton Savage Show has been a “hit” with listeners since it first aired.

“Listeners will now have a great option on both Saturdays and Sundays where they can enjoy informed and engaging content delivered in Anton’s unique warm and relaxed style,” she said.

“We are very excited to bring such a dynamic show to the airwaves and look forward to continued success with Anton and this new venture.”

Futureproof with Jonathan McCrea will move to the new time of 12pm on Sundays.

The final On the Record programme, hosted by Emmett Oliver, includes analysis on the Israel-Gaza conflict, a Rugby World Cup postmortem and a look at young farmers, drug addiction and social media.
