What’s on today then…

Not a whole lot is the answer. Besides the small matter of the Opening Ceremony, today sees action in front of the Butts as men and women compete in ranking rounds for Archery.

So what Irish are in action…

There are no Irish in action today. Unless you count all those at the Opening Ceremony parading around behind the flag.

What else should I keep an eye on…

The only real question on people’s lips today will be… who is going to light the Olympic flame in the stadium. Steve Redgrave? Daley Thompson? David Beckham??

Bluffers Guide

Each arrow shot in the Archery will travel at approximately 240kmph.

The Olympics were first held in London in 1908. At those Games, a new marathon distance (that is still adhered to today) was established so that competitors would finish in front of the Royal Family’s viewing box at the stadium.
