On Wednesday 16th of September, convicted murderer Richard Glossip will be the 113th prisoner to die in the last forty years of capital punishment.
Oklahoma - which executes more people per head of population than any other US state - will resume executing prisoners after the US Supreme Court dismissed compaints that the process of lethal injection was inhumane.
Capital punishment became an issue of national and international derision when a prisoner took almost an hour to die due to a botched execution.
In January of this year, Glossip and two other prisoners were granted a temporary reprieve while the lethal injection drug was given a full review in light of this event, which you can read about here.
Glossip has maintained his innocence from the very beginning. He was twice offered a life sentence twice in exchange for an admission of guilt, but he refused both times.
