The 51-year-old businessman of Kilmore, Monkstown Grove, South Dublin faces 19 charges of theft of sums totalling about 11million euro from five individuals.

They are named as Martin O’Brien, Pat Doyle, Evan Newall, Louis Dowley and Daniel Maher.There are also 19 charges of deception of the same people. All charges allegedly occurred between 2006 and 2008.

There are further allegations of deception involving €1.9m.

No date has been set for the trial as the Cork born financier is trying to stop the prosecution.

The High Court is due to hear his challenge over 2 days.
