So today was the day that we'd get a chance to go and chase these northern lights that we've come all this way to see.

We spent the early morning looking around the fascinating Tromso museum and later took a cable car above the beautiful city.

In the early evening we travelled to a Fjord outside Tromso to 'hunt the lights'. When we say hunt the lights we really mean we have to wait and see if they would appear in the sky; if the solar winds would do their thing. After about two hours of little activity in the sky our guide decided to take us to higher ground.

Standing in the mountains of Norway we waiting patiently to see the fabled lights. There was a little bit of colour in the sky but we were disappointed to be honest. We weren't blown away.

At midnight we decided to call it a day. But just as we were leaving the sky exploded! We were treated to a real spectuclar show. The lights danced across the sky and it truely is one of those things that make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. Standing there till nearly 3am in the morning we realised why people say that the northern lights are on their bucket list.

Check out some of our amazing pictures:

Tomorrow we ride with the huskies and we continue our search for the Northern Lights and not only will we have more fantastic photos but we hope to have a video too... here's a little teaser from our time in Tromso so far:
